The Old Guard
Founded in 1966 for retired and semi-retired men.
Members reside in West Hartford and 16 other Hartford area towns.
The Old Guard gives the opportunity to continue existing social, community service, professional and industry relationships in retirement.
For those men who are new to the community, the Old Guard provides opportunity to become engaged with active and interesting new neighbors.
Many members actively participate in civic activities:
Foodshare, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Seniors Job Bank, and YMCA, all coordinated by volunteer Old Guard liaisons.
The major source of new members has been referrals from existing and new members.
