The Old Guard

Founded in 1966 for retired and semi-retired men.

Over 230 members reside in West Hartford and 16 other Hartford area towns.

The Old Guard gives the opportunity to continue existing social, community service, professional and industry relationships in retirement.

For those men who are new to the community, the Old Guard provides opportunity to  become engaged with active and interesting new neighbors.

Average weekly meeting attendance is over 100 members and guests.

(Physical meetings have not taken place since March, 2020 but the Spring season concluded with two virtual meetings via Zoom.)

Many members actively participate in civic activities:

Foodshare, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Seniors Job Bank, UConn Health Center, and YMCA, all coordinated by volunteer Old Guard liaisons.

The major source of new members has been referrals from existing and new members.
